Eq3 BENCH RACK 2010
The concept for the Bench Rack grew out of meditation on how many of our possessions are concealed. Rather than concealing our clutter the bench rack was designed to provide transparency to how we live. The Bench Rack works half as display half as container but in its entirety becomes a testament to the things we collect. The original concept of embracing clutter married with the functional requirement of providing clothes storage in starved for storage urban dwellings. The result is a piece that blends together a sculptural metal tube that provides space to hang everything from dress shirts to dresses — with a solid wood bench that grounds the piece leaving room for shoes, sweaters or to take a seat.
